This chapter gives the summary, conclusions, recommendations and suggestions for further studies drawn from the findings. The aim of this study was to find out the impact of supply chain management on financial performance of small and medium enterprises.
5.2 Summary of the Study Findings
The research study was sub divided into three segments on the questionnaire; firstly, the response rate and the general information on respondents, secondly, supply chain management practices embraced by the enterprise and lastly, the impact supply chain management has on financial performance.
The questionnaires that were completed and returned by respondents were 20 out of 27, representing a response rate of 74.1%. the respondents were general managers, procurement director, accountants and sales managers. The largest number of respondents were the general managers followed closely by accountants. The enterprise has been in operation for longer periods enough such that it has embraced management of its supply chain from the findings.
5.2.1 Core Competency and Financial Performance
Assessment of core competency revealed that the enterprise had adopted sequence of steps in aligning the business strategy in the supply chain so as to exercise effective control of their operations. Further assessment revealed that the enterprise had the necessary capabilities and exclusive qualities in responding to complaints and concerns raised by their customers.
