The origin of my interest in law and criminology is strongly rooted in my love for justice and rewards to all people at all places. Due to everchanging human behavior, law and criminology have the ability to constantly maintain a focus on people’s rights for a better-united society. The challenge of Human rights is experienced every day, and law and criminology have all-through justified people’s deeds to their satisfaction. Everyone has a duty and responsibility to follow the law. For the love of justice and ethical way of living, I got attracted to pursuing a career related to legal fields to reinforce right-personally and extend my help to other people when need be. Pursuing a law and criminology course will equip me with knowledge on law subject, thus enabling me to reason cognitively and improve my virtues and morality.
Since my early studies at A-level, I have always been thoughtful and considered the subjects that can create a path for studying law and criminology. I had paid much attention to English and literature to analyze and manipulate matters to give people a vivid comprehension and interpretation from my perspective. Acquire skills of a lawyer, which has to be shown within the legal sector as a barrister. Philosophy and Ethics had already begun enlightening me on human behavior and law by giving me insight into right and wrong. Drama studies enabled me to speak confidently and present myself as a potential lawyer in a concise manner. Also, sociology has many relationships as it contains topics on crime and deviance related to criminal law. Psychology subject provides an understanding of the criminal mind. There is a topic of eye witness testimonies in psychology and understand various factors that increase the credibility of eyewitnesses’ testimonies.
Moreover, my interest in undertaking law and criminology was reaffirmed when I visited the Royal Courts of Justice in London recently. I had to see, experience, and feel court proceedings in practice as I sat and followed cases, especially those of my interest. Secondly, I handled a case within the courtroom and presented myself as a solicitor before the judge. Therefore, pursuing a degree in law and criminology is so appealing to me as it is a path to my career ambitions fulfillment. Criminal law and the statutes representing every criminal deed are also very appealing to me. The love of paying attention to theories and the reasons people commit crime increases my interest in determining the cause of crime.
One of my achievements that gives me more confidence and force towards law and criminology is serving as a police service volunteer. It has strengthened my organizational skills and helped me to value the interest of other people. Besides, I can communicate and interact with people at different levels. My volunteer work with the police service has opened my mind to understand law enforcement better.
I believe that the passion I have for law and criminology originates from all dimensions of life. I have visited courtrooms, choice of study subjects, and police service voluntary service, strengthening my purpose for the course. Joining London Metropolitan University to pursue the course will be the peak of my dream and will further nourish my skills and give me more knowledge about the law’s criminal part and the law itself. I am eager to start University learning as this will reflect a new step in my life.
