- Define and Describe the central Dogma of Genetic Determinism
The central Dogma of Genetic Determination is the explanation of biological systems’ genetic information. It is described to be central because it informs us of the functioning process of living organisms’ codes. DNA, RNA, and proteins biopolymers are linear polymers where each monomer is linked to at most two other monomers. The central dogma describes the transfer of information as ideally faithful, deterministic by the fact that one biopolymer sequence is used as a template for constructing another biopolymer entirely dependent on the sequence of the original biopolymer.
The framework for understanding the transfer of information sequence between the information-sequence carrying biopolymers in living organisms is the dogma. This kind of biopolymers is categorized into three dogma classes: DNA, RNA, and protein. There are. Therefore, three multiplied by three conceivable direct transfers of information between them. The general transfers include three transfers believed to occur normally in most of the cells; another three are established to occur under specified conditions than the last three transfers are believed never to occur.
The general transfers describe the normal flow of biological information. When DNA is copied to DNA, it is called DNA replication, and when copied into mRNA, it’s called transcription. The synthesis of DNA using an RNA template is a reverse transcription (Aryal, 2018). Transfers that are unknown describe protein to protein copying, RNA synthesis using the primary structure of a protein as a template, or using the primary structure of a protein as the template for RNA synthesis, which does not occur naturally.
- How Dr. Lipton expands upon the current central dogma belief.
Dr. Lipton expands the current central dogma belief of information flow in living cells through replication, transcription, and translation stages using the DNA polymerase, RNA polymerase, and the ribosome as the main molecular machines. The gene’s capability to turn on and off in structure regulation does not only control our physical structure, emotions, and behaviors. Genes control all our life characteristics. The genes turn on and off the self-actualization character. He clarifies that the disadvantageous genes in our heredity are inevitable unless we find a rescuer. According to Dr. Lipton, the environment selects the genetic activity of a cell (Lipton, 2005). Humans cannot exist without their microbiome. Our mind perception changes our blood chemistry. Perception triggers the release of hormones such as oxytocin, dopamine, vasopressin, and growth hormone that enhance cells’ vitality and health. There are, therefore, all forms of potentials in the genetics of a cell. According to Watson and Crick, Dr. Lipton explains that information flows from DNA to RNA to protein in a unidirectional way. He expounds his new understanding by stipulating that information informing environmental signals flows from regulatory protein to DNA to RNA and then to protein (Lipton, 2005).
- Epigenetics and how it challenges genetic determinism
The word ‘epi’ means above; therefore, the word epigenetics refers to control above the genes. Our perceptions and environment control our genetic activities. The fact that the genes control themselves and I cannot control them is profound in genetic determinism. The game is changed by epigenetics as the genetic expression is directly due to environment and environmental perception. It is a disempowering knowledge to fail to understand that we can control genes with our perceptions and environment and prevent them from making us victims (Lipton, 2005).
4.Personal insight on how this expanded knowledge can control science, medicine, and society as a whole.
Dr. Lipton’s new epigenetics insights have given me the perception that habits are instinct derived by the body system. Our habits are restricted to learning and practice. The expressions of our wishes, desires, and life aspirations are from our creative minds. The visualizations of what we what to see lead our genetic makeup to respond and restructure towards its achievement. This information can be used in scientific assessments as the subconscious programs control 95% of our lives. Our lives and society can be transformed if we change our subconscious and behavior origin sources. Today’s generation needs to recognize and utilize the science of epigenetics, where the mind has power over the genes. To regain power and create the lives we want, we need to focus our minds on a positive growth environment.
A new science of signal transduction is the route via which an environmental signal engages a biological behavior. The cell membrane interface reads the environment of a cell and adjusts the behavior and the genetics of the cell to survive in its environment. This science can be applied in the meditation science of individuals to change their biology through perception change. This application can solve some inflammatory genes in a group through perception therapy in the medical field. This is possible as signal transduction are biologically translated into behavior. I clearly understand that our misperception was due to leaving out the chromosomal regulatory proteins that control DNA.
