Robert Gupta: Between Music and Medicine
In Between Medicine and Music, Gupta explains his challenging decisions of selecting music over a career in medicine and the ways music influence people unanimously. In choosing a career as a professional violinist, he decided to transform lives despite not saving on a timely basis as a doctor (Robert 4:15). Incredibly, he discovered a way to reach out street people and those with mental impairment. Participating in a musical session, it is essential to note that music affects one mentally and physically. He outlines how a woman with a mental disorder went into tears by his music band (Robert 10:05). He also discusses how music can impact recovery from people with brain damage. From his video, it is worth saying that people do not realize how the brain is affected by music.
Victor Wooten: Music as a Language
In his brilliant TED-Ed video, Wooten performs his famous cover of Amazing Grace on bass while recounting over the top. He explains how music is a language and that people must acknowledge how they learned to talk like children (Victor 7:10). Wooten clarifies that in initial learning of any instrument, people must incorporate the mistakes instead of correcting them, and learners must be able to gridlock with professionals (Victor 11:15). He stresses the materials and argues that music is a language and maybe the most significant way to achieve world peace.
Three Pieces of Music to Offer While Reconciling For Peace
Most of the recent functions have emphasized the role of arts as a complete without embarking on a particular type of art like music and evaluating its impacts on creating a peaceful society following the United States’ post-presidential election (Lederach & John pg.140). Music has fostered conflict resolution and peacebuilding conditions while depending on the document analysis, lyrics, and instrumental content.
Music offers a unique method to peacebuilding with the potential of fostering unity peace and helping communities address the phases of the conflict more constructively and innovatively (Lederach & John pg.142). The united states of America are in great fear of disparity following the presidential election results. The stakeholders have engaged in dialogues to solve the existing differences and prevent future inequality. The authorities have employed different tactics in peacebuilding (Lederach & John pg.144). According to Wooten’s music as a language, music is worthy in fostering peacemaking dialogues. Pieces of music such as Lou’sianna Belle, which is the matter, and Old Kentucky Home, all by Stephen Foster, are examples of music that can enhance understanding, persuade, encourage, reconcile, and help peacebuilding.
Significance of the Three Pieces of Music by Stephen Foster in Reconciling For Peace
The controversial schemes of racism have dominated the run-up of the United States’ election through annexation republics across all states. In oppositions, the political parties have possessed different cities identified as their strongholds. Consequently, this has created political differences and promoting societal conflicts (Lederach & John pg.146). In his music, Stephen Foster features a parody of Negro by white in speech and dance. This forum defined the blacks as stupid, comical, and a frolicsome character (Lederach & John pg.147). However, the society contained and loved it. In the present day, humanity has understood what the blacks have been thought of all long. His songs have revealed the perceptions of mainstream America. “I have accomplished a great deal to establish the palate of the minstrel music among sophisticated individuals by composing messages that suit their admirations, instead of the worthless and racist words which belong to the genre of that sort” (Lederach & John pg.148). This refinement implies that blacks deserve respect and are capable of a broad range of human emotions.
The melodies of Stephen Foster have adequately and bravely addressed the political conflicts of this era. However, his early music promoted the dehumanization of stereotypes; his later works are essentially non-ethnic in content (Lederach & John pg.150). These music pieces illustrate humanity’s themes, nostalgia, love, and longing in both their content and lyrics. Their connection with the black face minstrel interviews enhanced a new knowledge of humanity and peacebuilding in the present day.
The rapid spread of music across different states makes it an essential element in social transformation. For people who have been abused, music provides an innovative and peaceful avenue for enhancing social awareness and impacting change. Wooten acknowledges music as a language that solves all aspects of global disparities. Music is broadly recognized in peacebuilding; however, not all music pieces can be employed to persuade, encourage, or maintain peace.
