A government is a body that has power to control and/protect a country, land area, people or organization. It is a social-welfare that work for the sake of its common people and which does not put into consideration maximizing profits. Davis,2019 it, therefore, is the means that a society organizes and allocates its resources to achieve its goals and benefit its citizens. The goals here include economic prosperity, national security, safety, and well-being, while the benefits are education, health care, and infrastructure.

A government tends to provide funds to service public activities. (Fournier et al., 2018) these include those who are not possible for common people to offer themselves, including education, water, roads, environmental protection, electricity and police, and military services. It generates funds for those services from collecting taxes or government borrowing.

It also helps in improving the level of the government’s economic growth. The activities here include business, cultivation, fishing, poultry, cattle rearing. If they are well controlled and sponsored, the government’s economy will improve positively, which will then promote the revenue collection. The government tends to help by allocating funds by, for example, providing farm inputs and developing market and infrastructure, which will in the long run, widen the production level.

The government also ensures the protection of its people’s rights. The basic rights include the right to life that is living freely, the right to own property that is acquiring what they want, and the right to personal liberty by reporting any problem to court. These are essential, and so every person must enjoy them throughout their life without being denied. The government must then impose rules and regulation, which ensures that such rights are ensured and guaranteed.

Another important role entails the security within its boundaries through the maintenance of law and order. This intends to take care of its people from internal or external threats, including violence, corruption, and theft. Failure to protect its people’s performance will fall due to fear of the unknown. The protection would be provided through the imposition of proper military services and police security, ensuring an efficient production.

Any nation’s government has to ensure that its nation’s socio-economical infrastructure is developed. (Charron et al., 2016) this includes developing efficient education, effective road construction, updated technological level, easily available electricity, and health services. This is because a citizen cannot acquire such services since they are costly to acquire and maintain. A government should then ensure they are available and cheaply so that every person can acquire them. A nation’s government also has a role in the taxation process. This entails revenue acquisition through tax collection, which includes excise taxes which is imposed on import or when something is sold; value-added tax levied on commodities, income tax charged on salaries/wages, the capital gain tax imposed on profits from the sale of assets such as land, excise tax and corporate taxes which are levied on corporation’s profits.

In conclusion, it is evident that the government is essential in any nation. This is because people cannot run things independently but would rather need a representative to help them. For example, to ensure the efficient running of a nation’s activities, funds should be provided and well managed. There should also be protection and security of the people so as they live without any fear. With all these considerations in place, there will promisingly positive growth in the national economy.
