Emotional Intelligence in leadership

Response

I couldn’t agree more with the student that leaders need to show high levels of emotional Intelligence. To become a better leader, one should never let their emotions get in the way of the work or, better yet, should learn to control them. A good leader is easy to talk to, has complete confidence with his team, and listens keenly to make better decisions.  He doesn’t favour or show prejudice but treats everyone equally.  A leader with emotional Intelligence is self-motivated.

Self-motivation and leadership go hand in hand; to be a good leader with high intelligence levels, one must work diligently towards achieving the set goals. Consistency is vital in leadership; knowing what you want, how to achieve it, and producing quality work show high levels of emotional Intelligence ( panait, 2017). Sometimes in leadership, people forget why they started doing the job in the place. It’s good to evaluate oneself as a leader and be optimistic even if the work results are not acceptable.

When faced with adversity, it is good to show empathy; blaming others for mistakes that have already happened does not help, but bringing the team together, reminding everyone to work together shows high emotional intelligence levels. When errors occur, they can be corrected, and others cannot get better to move on and do better next time. A good leader will try to understand others’ feelings, listens keenly, and try to help to mind how they react.

A good leader should be self-motivated and has to have empathy. He should work hard and lead the team in the right direction.
