Painting requires many skills and knowledge that may not be easy for an individual to comprehend by themselves. Most of the prolific artists have learned numerous skills through their association with the other individual, and the video confirms this association between Virginia dawn and Willoughby Sharp. From the movie, it is evident that the two characters have a massive and influence on one another. Like with the other art movements, the movie demonstrates how individuals can share ideas that influence other individuals’ artwork. Individuals are depicted in the film as they hang out, talk, drink, and trade ideas during turbulent times. The practice offers an illustration of the influence that the two artists have had on one another, trading ideas to improve oneself, explaining that the two are outstanding artists.
The unlearning ideas and concepts that Nancy talked about that were to be unlearned by the artists were the aspects of competition with nature. Nancy wanted that instead of the artists striving to compete with nature, they should integrate it into their artwork. In doing so, Nancy believes that the artists will have a strong desire to ensure that they, especially their audiences, are conscious of the universe’s cyclical time. In striving to illustrate the emergence of the land and the environmental artists, Andy Goldsworthy says, “we often forget that we are nature. Nature is not something separate from us. So, when we say that we have lost our connection to nature, we’ve lost our connection to ourselves.” The illustration proves that Nancy wanted the artist to unlearn that they should not compete with nature but instead ensure that nature is part and parcel of the artists themselves.
Lawrence Weiner has made a significant illustration of the type of art you cannot lose or damage. The notion of art described by the statement is that the art is invaluable. Most artworks are considered invaluable. Mona, Lisa is a crucial example of artwork that is considered priceless. It is essential for the people coming to the nation to tour the place, but it is also useful as it represents the nation’s culture. The painting was done by Leonardo da Vinci and was a significant simple of happiness. Happiness was the central motif of the painting, and this made it unique amongst the people. The aspect means that what it meant or represented to the nation’s people cannot get damaged or lost, which is in line with the destruction described by Lawrence Weiner.
The idea of Dennis Oppenheim on “Sculpture as a place” is intriguing. I find this concept interesting because it implies that the platform is a sculptural construct and forms the natural landscape. I buy Dennis’s idea because sculpture as a place implies the places that form the viewing stations where the works of art can be viewed. Apart from the individuals viewing the object, the viewer subsequently becomes the image to be viewed. It must be a place where individuals can be identified, and this includes cultural identification.
In the movie, one artist who stands out for me is Willoughby Sharp. In his artwork, “earth art,” he devotes the work to four primary natural elements, air, water, fire, and earth. Sharp effectively advocates for nature, and I find this significant. Sharp also illustrates different environmental situations, and this is an essential aspect that helps the artist learn that nature should be part of them and that its preservation is crucial.
