The formation of medical terms is done when a root word combines with a Greek word prefix and suffixes to form new terminologies. These prefixes and suffixes used are derived from the names of the body component, body procedures, or body parts. The terminologies make it easy to communicate in the medical field because the term is universal. This terminologies formed relates to the name of the body processes or component from which it is derived. Examples of these suffixes are derm–melan–hidr– crin–therm. The above word parts are of Greek origin and represent different body parts or processes. Derm is means skin and is used to form terms that are associated with the brain. Melan means the black pigment responsible for the formation of skin pigmentation. Hidr means sweat and terminologies it is used to form terms used to refer to process associated with sweat. Crin is a term that means secretion while therm means heat.
