Medical language has been developed to form terminologies that enhance communication in the medical field. These terminologies are called medical terms. They are formed by adding Greek suffixes and prefixes to the root word to give them a medical meaning. This term makes communication among medical personnel easy since they are universal. Examples of these word parts used to form medical terminologies are derm–melan–hidr– crin–therm. The term derm is a Greek word meaning the skin and used to form words associated with the skin. Melan term means black, a pigment that is responsible for skin color and also found in the iris of the eye. Hidr is a greek term meaning sweat and when added to a root word it associates it with sweating. Crin is a term used to modify root words and give them a secretion meaning. Therm is a Greek that means heat and form term that is associated with heat.
