Health Literacy
From the lessons learnt in class, health illiteracy has intensive health implications which might be as severe as death. From the online article, ehealth literacy is defined as the capability to look for, find, understand, and implement authentic health information from online sources then utilize the knowledge and concepts gained to solve various health issues (Del Giudice et al., 2018). Further, considering the advancement of technology in the contemporary society, the internet has become one of the substantial modes of obtaining health information from health experts. However, some information is not from experts, but just bloggers or other authors who might lack authentic knowledge on medicine. Therefore, people looking for answers online regarding a certain health issues might encounter information that lack any health facts.
Besides, people trying to obtain internet knowledge on the field of medicine might lack proper research skills as well as lack the ability to understand the concepts. Besides, Del Giudice et al. (2018) describes ehealth literacy as being based on ancient knowledge, health understanding, data literacy, scientific knowledge, media literacy, and computer literacy. Therefore, for an individual to gain any health literacy, they must be equipped with certain levels of the six disciplines. Since ehealth literacy is not only based on understanding, but also, the ability to implement the knowledge gained to solve any health problem at any time without any errors, an individual must have practiced how to respond to the learnt health information to avoid further injury or long-term conditions. From the article, health literacy is of paramount advantage, therefore, not only do researchers and the general public need to know, also, health professionals need to understand how to seek, find, understand, and implement as well as integrate, traditional, health, information, scientific, media, and computer literacy.
