Purpose of the Conference:
The supervisor met the employee to discuss his unethical behavior. The employee had addressed his fellow faculty members in a derogative manner besides expressing dissatisfaction with the directive issued during a faculty meeting (Humble ISD PD, 2016). Several staff members had reported the issue concerning the planning sessions. The supervisor wanted to remind the employee about the company’s expectations and culture concerning handling cases.
The body language and demeanor of the supervisor
The supervisor expressed a lot of concern about the employee’s behavior against the organization’s culture. The body language showed that there could have been a lack of enough knowledge on the employee’s side concerning the school’s culture, together with a lack of conflict resolution skills.
Specifics of the Feedback
The employee had the opportunity to articulate the school’s mission and vision, which showed that he knew his role in achieving the organizational objectives. For instance, the employee had enough information on the culture of learning and respect that forms the core pillars of the school’s mission (Humble ISD PD, 2016). However, the employee was unaware of the need to maintain dignity and act as a role model for the students.
Expectations for the future:
The employee is expected to uphold the school’s values—respect for the colleagues, treatment with dignity, and avoiding derogative conversations in learners’ presence. The faculty member is expected to act as a role model for the students and always follow the right channels to express dissatisfaction.
What did the supervisor do effectively?
The supervisor identified a problem with the employee and created the right environment for conflict resolution. The employee also had an opportunity to express his concerns without pressure. The supervisor took a step further to remind the employee of his roles as a responsible teacher.
