Engineering and technology have been advancing quickly over the last century. The digital age has brought with it new avenues to explore many innovative inventions. Because of numerous developments presented to the world almost on a daily, other amazing ones go unnoticed. But not anymore. In this video, we have listed 10 insane inventions you need to see. 1. Doryu 2-16 Camera

If you’re not yet convinced that Japan is the hub of photographers’ dreams, then that will soon change with what you’re about to see. Say hello to the cool and ultra-rare DORYU 2-16, a pistol-shaped subminiature camera made in Japan. It was doctored by the Doryu Camera Company from 1952 to 1956 as a police issue snapper that not only looked like a weapon but actually made a loud noise like a gun. The Japanese police pistol-type cameras had the capabilities to film crime in action, more like the OJ Simpson story. These are really rare now. One was sold at an auction in 2017 for a cool 25,000 dollars.

  1. HoverCase

Most of us are usually too lazy and don’t feel comfortable pulling your suitcase wherever we go. In as much as you may need your items with you when traveling, it becomes too stressful walking around with bags along the streets. Well, the HoverCase is specifically meant to relieve you of all that stress. It follows you like an obedient dog. All you need to do is put on a smart band that is linked to it. It’s fixed with intelligent cameras that detect any possible obstacle on its way and that it definitely avoids with ease. At airports, it will self-hover to check-in, moving with all the other HoverCases in lanes of neat, uncongested traffic. And security will love it too — the HoverCase is also fully trackable.

  1. EyeLie: Lie-Detector

This is the age of all-seeing, all-knowing technology. Yet, it’s getting harder to know who you can trust. The EyeLie is here to sieve out those who lie to you. This smart technology analyzes every word you hear, read, or utter. It detects lies and truths, giving you a visual reading of “true” or “false.” The machine logs result in your contacts. In other words, the EyeLie scans and plays with human intelligence to determine possible manufactured statements, which is, in turn, brings to your attention.

  1. Robotaxi

You may have heard about the development of driverless cars — cars which drive themselves or, if you like, autonomous cars. What you might not know, however, is that there are several companies currently trying the effectiveness of this self-driving machine. The project was envisioned in Singapore in 2016, and ever since, many car dealers seem to have married the idea. The United States start-up developer of driverless car software, nuTonomy, is one of the companies behind the scheme. It was permitted in 2016 by the Singapore government to test driverless taxis in a small area of town. AutoX of Shanghai, China, is another good example, with a fleet of more than 100 on trial as of 2020. Renault and Mitsubishi supply the small electric cars, equipped with nuTonomy’s cameras and software. The cars use a complex laser system, much the same as radar, which monitors the surroundings of the car.

  1. Rain on Request

Prolonged droughts throughout the world can be a major problem for communities that depend on agriculture. Some places can experience long droughts, severely affecting the agricultural industry and even natural vegetation. Rain on Request (ROR) is an eco-friendly rain inducing technology, which was developed by world-renowned scientists from Israel to solve these problems. It uses a controlled electric field that influences local atmospheric conditions. Air ionization leads to the formation of nucleation centers, which causes cloud development and henceforth rainfall. By using this technology, droughts can be mitigated, and the need for other technologies, such as reverse osmosis for desalinization, can fall.

  1. An Intelligent Umbrella

A new umbrella may be the answer for those of us who constantly forget or misplace our rainy-day gear. This is a smart umbrella that lets you know when it’s raining. Sounds utterly pointless, doesn’t it? Well, maybe not as it does other things too — like notifying you if you’ve accidentally wandered off without it. This umbrella also has the ability to share data with other smart umbrellas for cloud sourcing to ensure it’s accurate. It also monitors your movements, and so your security whenever you walk along with it is guaranteed.

  1. Vscan

The use of Ultrasound is commonplace in medicine, regularly used to check up on pregnancies or internally occurring diagnose conditions. Getting an Ultrasound usually involves making a booking and going to the hospital, which can take a few weeks, depending on how busy the hospital is. That has all changed with the introduction of Vscan, a portable, pocket-sized Ultrasound device. It allows doctors and other healthcare professionals to make a quick and easy physical exam. It weighs approximately 1 kg and can scan within 2 minutes. It has truly revolutionized the ease of Medical Ultrasound.

  1. Voice Mask

We all have that one colleague who takes phone calls at their desk and distracts the whole office with their loud voice and endless hullabaloo. To solve this common problem, a company invented a ‘voice mask’ that allows such chatterbox guys to take a call without making background noise. However, it does cause the wearer to look a bit like Bane-the villain from Batman, which is nothing compared to causing discomfort to people at work.

  1. Military Exoskeleton

The XOS 2 is a wearable exoskeleton developed by the US Company Raytheon, which can significantly enhance a person’s speed, strength, agility, and endurance. The second-generation robotic suit was developed for US military applications. Through the use of engineering flexible hoses, high-pressure hydraulics allows the wearer to lift heavy objects at a ratio of 17:1, representing the actual weight of the object to what the wearer perceives as the weight of the object. In other words, the wearer will be able to lift objects weighing 17 times more than what they could lift without the suit. It also allows people to lift and transport heavy objects without exhaustion or injury repeatedly.

  1. The Nano Quadrotor

Drones have been fairly prevalent in the last few years. These radio-controlled robots can zip around cities and countryside alike. The nano quadrotor Is like a much smaller drone. This tiny robot is programmed to perform multiple tasks. They are 20 cm in diameter and weigh 57 grams, using 15 watts to fly around using 4 tiny rotors. The nano quadrotors were developed by engineering personnel at the University of Pennsylvania’s General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception (GRASP) laboratory. The tiny robots fly in flocks and are incredibly agile, with the ability to flip and dodge obstacles, fly through tight corridors and move at a frightening pace.
