Archaeology and Paleoecology by Dr. Christopher Morehart.
For this assignment, I chose to analyze a research project on archaeology and Paleoecology by Dr. Christopher Morehart. The project will be conducted in the Basin of Mexico. The scheme began in September 2015 and is ongoing until August 2019. The project seeks to comprehend how political and environmental factors mold human beings’ lives. Moreover, it seeks to find out people’s response to changes in politics and the local environment. Also, the project will analyze the transformations that have taken place in the economy and politics over time. The plan is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, and the Division of Behavioral and Cognitive sciences. The task will employ the expertise of learners and scientists from both Mexico and the United States. The diversity of the participants the neutrality of the findings.
Due to the complexity of the project and a wide range of data, the analysis might face some challenges in the future. First, excavation of archaeological data such as household items, bones, maps, writings, and tools requires sophisticated machinery; thus, the actual budget might bypass the expected budget consequently bringing the project at a halt to gather more funds. Second, it is a challenge to interpret data that existed in a different era compared to recent data. Therefore, archaeological statistics may be misinterpreted; thus, misleading the findings of the study. Third, the respondents may not be willing to cooperate particularly on the political issues; hence, the results may not be an accurate reflection of the reality. While using archaeological information provides a deeper understanding of the topic at hand, archeological evidence may be destroyed during excavation which is not only irresponsible but also, it is neglecting the duty of care owed to the next generations who will need the same evidence for diverse purposes. Despite the challenges which might occur, Morehart’s project is significant to the currents trends such as economic growth, production and politics. The findings of the project will be of interest to all people and might provide insight on how to deal with the shifts in the economy, and the intensifying politics all over the world.
