Global Corporate Social Responsibility in Australia
Corporate social responsibility is an approach by a business or an organization to facilitate sustainable development through contribution of social, economic and environmental benefits to its stakeholders. In Australia, international companies and organizations as well as the government and non-governmental corporations undertake global corporate social responsibility. For instance, the Australian Prime Minister established a prominent federal initiative known as the Business Community Partnership that fosters community business partnerships, acts as a think tank on philanthropic issues, and supports corporate giving. In our proposal, we aim at studying the impact of global corporate social responsibility on Australia (Anderson & Landau, Corporate social responsibility in Australia).
To conduct the research, each team member will carry out a particular task. Every member will be required to identify the different corporate social responsibilities being carried out by Australian companies on a global scale. Our areas of concern are the wellbeing of employees, environmental protection, company-community initiatives, and the global perspective about corporate social responsibility developed by the corporations. These areas of concern can be grouped into economic, legal, ethical and discretional social responsibilities. The study also aims at establishing the impact of these areas of concern today and the future projections of corporations concerning global corporate social responsibility.
In our research, we will incorporate human resources as sources of information, for instance, employees, members of the community, the company management teams, and other stakeholders. Environmental reports and corporate culture notes will be helpful in the research work. The Global reporting Initiative is also another resource that we will utilize in our study. Gathering first hand information through administering questionnaires and observation will work in getting data about corporate social responsibility. Each member of the team will be required to identify a specific area of concern and find the resources necessary to carry out the study. The information gathered will then be analyzed jointly and a final report drafted for presentation.
Concisely, the study will help us understand the impact of global corporate social responsibility in Australia, and their corporate culture and practices on the same.
