Democracy (Teaching Men to Be Emotionally Honest).
Democracy is a form of government in which the citizens of a specific state have the authority to choose their governing legislation (Reiner, 15). This paper addresses various features men have to possess to be emotionally honest. Emotional honesty among the boys in the current generation entails ways to express his true feelings (Reiner, 20). Notably, male identity in this current generation is more recognized when faced with challenges or with difficult situations in their lives. For men to be emotionally honest, they have to possess the “Face of Masculinity,” and such a factor is what many men need despite their fear. This paper also addresses some of the stereotypes that are branded to men regarding academic performance. For instance, in terms of grades and assignments writings, the boy child is highly viewed as spending less on homework than female gender students. Also, there is the stereotype that men perform well in technical subjects than the female students do, which brings about studies in differences between men and women.
Also, the essence of teaching boys about emotional honest is depicted in the way boys underperform in various schools. For instance, a boy’s academic performance is more connected with the community’s norms and values, which entails much of masculinity’s face. Boys engaging themselves in extracurricular cultural tasks like music, art, and foreign languages record high school involvement levels, hence reports or records good grades than the other boys (Yan et al., 242). Other factors contribute to poor performance and low levels of academic investments among boys. Some of such factors include poor social and wanting behavioral skills. The boys’ stereotype highly contributes to such low levels of academics among the boys that it’s good for them to be earning Man Card than to succeed like a girl.
Also, boys need to possess the factor of “Face of Masculinity” since it will help such boys seek help and treatment concerning depression and anxiety cases. Also, such depression cases have highly impacted the boy child’s life since it has contributed to more deaths than it is being experienced in the girl child. Such increased cases of suicide and depressions among the boys are geared by the desperate situations they face while struggling to find their way towards adulthood. The consequences or the hallmark that comes with the masculine psyche that many boys aspire to possess are the shame of feeling any sadness, despair, or robust emotions. In conclusion, teaching boys to be emotionally honest aids them in their relationship, whether formal or informal. Boy’s relationship with their opposite gender is more build-up if boys emphasize emotional honest. Also, emotional honesty among boys or male identity in this current generation is more recognized when faced with challenges or with difficult situations in their lives. Thus this contributes to the boys engaging themselves in extracurricular cultural tasks like music, art, and foreign languages. They record high school involvement levels hence report or record good grades than the other boys hence depicting some essence of emotional honesty among the boys.
