Prison executioners
Prison executioners deal with emotional, physical, and mental damages due to the job they undertake. Many of them have left the work simply because they cannot manage it, while others hurt themselves or their loved ones due to the job’s mental trauma. The extent to which these prison executioners react due to mental damage is far-fetched. They need help from people who understand their situation to move with their life swiftly; otherwise, they will turn to suicide, alcohol, which will cause chaos with their family members.
Most prison executioners don’t want their family to think they are in trouble, thereby keeping their family members in danger as they do anything to them when they are traumatized. They develop different types of illnesses like substance use, heart attacks, depression, and other emotional problems. Jerry Givens, a former Virginia executioner, explains that he disagrees with the punishment applied in prisons. He also experienced emotional damages and was very traumatized. He explained that only special people appear during these executions, which helps to minimize people’s growing emotional bond. Before the day of execution, the inmates interact with the special people who later are the only allowed people to enter the place where execution takes place.
The effects experienced by prison executioners are hard to recover. Most of them end up committing suicide, being alcoholic, mental illness patients, and drug addicts. Those who perform the executions suffers more than any other involved. Prison executioners should seek a therapist to clarify their issues because they cannot perform their duties with this kind of trauma. They are not the only danger to their families but also themselves. Many of them cannot do this, and as a result, they engage in horrific activities like alcoholism, which could be managed.
