Archival research provides the present and future generations with information about historical events that shaped nations and institutions to their current state. They also provide evidence that can be used to seek compensation for historical injustices.

American Psychological Association (APA) is the official writing style for the American Psychological Association. It is commonly used in writing social sciences’ research work, including psychology and education. On the other hand, the Modern Language Association (MLA) writing style is mostly used when writing research work for the humanities disciplines, such as literature, language, and cultural studies (Evans, 2020).
Maintaining these formats in research work is important to promote writing style uniformity and consistency in the various fields. They enable readers in specific disciplines to comprehend text due to the familiarity of the cues used in the reference of information borrowed from other sources (Evans, 2020).

Ethical guidelines in research refer to the principles that researchers need to uphold to avoid exposing research participants to any form of harm. Every researcher should follow the ethical guidelines to protect participants from physical harm, psychological distress, social disadvantage, and privacy and anonymity invasion. The essential ethical guidelines that researchers should adhere to include:
- Minimizing the risk of harming participants.
- Obtaining informed consent from the research participants prior to conducting the research. The consent ensures that the participants are not coerced to take part in the research. It also gives them the right to limit the use of their information.
- Protection of the research participants’ confidentiality and anonymity.
- Avoidance of deceptive practices during the research.
- Giving participants the right to discontinue the research at any stage.
