A “Unite the Right Rally” was planned to happen in Virginia in Charlottesville on August 12, 2017, to protest against the removal of the statue of Confederate icon General Robert E Lee. The rally constituted of neo-Nazis and white supremacists who had come from 35 states for the protest. On August 11, 2017, a group of white supremacists marched on the University of Virginia grounds carrying torches and yelling the slogan, “White lives matter.” A local state emergency was declared by the city of Charlottesville and the County of Albemarle. The white supremacists and neo-Nazis group formed up with shields and beat the anti-racist group with pols, metal pipes, and pepper spray. A car drove by white supremacy run up a group of ant0i-racist protestors and flew the scene. The white supremacists beat up the anti-racist protestors, leaving 19 people injured and losing a life of a 32yr old, Heather Heyer.

At 1:42 pm (17:42 GMT), a speeding car rammed into anti-racist protesters, killing Heather Heyer. The police did not do anything to intervene nor stop the protest from getting out of hand. The mayor of Charlottesville was stricken following the events that took place on the day of the protest. The mayor was not given any information by the State Intelligence or the FBI on the attack that would follow on the day of the protest. President Trump’s reaction following Charlottesville’s incident was that there was plenty of blames to go around both sides. He mentioned that the alt-left came charging at the alt-right and did not have any guilt resemblance. President Trump defended the racist protestors, which led to the alt right’s members to be stirred up and feel defended by President Donald Trump. Former Grand Wizard of the KKK thanked the President for his support in condemning terrorists in the Black Lives Matter movement. President Trump’s message sparked national outrage.

Charlottesville’s authorities happened to be unprepared as they did not receive any information regarding the violent attack in Charlottesville. Racial violence also took place in Sacramento, Berkeley, and Huntington beach two years before Charlottesville’s racial violence. The FBI, who would have been involved in preventing this, did not respond to Charlottesville’s racial violence and claimed that the attackers involved were arrested.

Robert Rundo was one of the White Supremacies who was involved in the protest in Charlottesville in Virginia. He was the leader of a movement known as Rise Above Movement (RAM), which was involved in various racial attacks in Huntington Beach and Berkley. Rundo was part of a gang group in Queens, New York, and was sentenced to 2yrs in prison for assault of a gang member. Prison plays a role in perpetuating white supremacy movements through segregation of people based on race, causing racial conflicts. Orange County, California, has always had a darker side, particularly with white supremacies. Like RAM, the Hammer skins are violent and organized neo-Nazis known for harassing, beating, and killing minorities. neo-Nazi attracts new members by selling traditional masculinity ideas, living a pure life, and being a warrior of the sword. They believe they are the defenders of traditional white culture and that what they do is cleaning the streets.

Blaze Bernstein was a 19-year-old Jewish boy who was found dead after allegations of being stabbed by a neo-Nazi, Samuel Woodward. The Attomwaffen Division is a National Socialist order, which is a neo-Nazi terrorist Network. Vasilios Pistolis is a neo-Nazi marine who took part in Charlottesville’s violent assaults and a member of the Attomwaffen Division. Michael Miselis is also a member of the white supremacist group that had violent assaults in Charlottesville. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and other officials say they are reviewing longstanding inconsistencies in police agencies’ data collection on hate crimes and Minnesota’s statutes dealing with crimes fueled by bias.
