A professional portfolio is a collection of ideas, progress, and work. It is one of the most valuable resources that one can use throughout their professional life. This can help portray one’s professional identity as it can tell stories about your professional achievements. It will contain videos, documents, artifacts, and any other multimedia form related to your professional learning and life. Through the reflection and reviews on your learning and practical experiences linked to promoting your professional knowledge, skills, and capabilities to employers, you can develop your professional identity and manage your career over time.

Since a portfolio is like an archive for your achievements and reflections, many things can be included. You need to have everything that could help to showcase your personal development in the industry of choice. But I think some of the important things to include in the portfolio include the title page containing your name, email address, phone number, and job title. It should also have the table of contents showing the major sections and subsections. More so, include the objectives or your biography. This could be your branding statement or a clear description of your goals and strengths. Also, show your credentials by demonstrating your job preparedness and education. Start with your resume, then your performance evaluation, references, and a list of professional developments, for graduates and students include the transcripts.
