E-Governance is the application of Information Communication Technology (ICT)
INTRODUCTION:
E-Governance is the application of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the departments of the government. This will help in making the process of government services accessible, efficient, and also convenient.
CONCEPT AND APPLICATION:
There are four different types of e-governance models:
- Government to Citizen (G2C): This refers to those government services for the general public. Most government services are G2C services. The primary goal of this model is to provide hassle free services to its citizens. It helps in reducing the time and the cost of the government as well as the public. With the help of this model, a person can have access to any services anytime from anywhere.
- Government to Business (G2B): This model is for exchanging services between the government and the business entity. G2B provides services like relevant forms to be filled up, etc. Also, information is shared between them with the help of this model. Many services are exchanged vis G2B model between the business organizations and government. An important role is played by G2B in the development of the businesses.
- Government to Government (G2G): This model is for the communication between the various government departments and agencies. It helps increase efficiency and save time during the government process. The same database is shared among the government department via the G2G model. This can also help in maintaining a healthy relationship by sharing the information easily.
- Government to Employee (G2E): This model is for the internal communication among the employees of the government. This model aims to create a bonding among the employees and share information and knowledge. It also provides many services to the employees, like leave application, reviewing the salary records, etc.
The advantages of the e-governance model:
- Speed: As all the process becomes online and communication becomes effective, the speed of the process increases.
- Transparency: All the business function becomes transparent due to the online mode of services.
- Cost Saving: A lot of money is spent on the purchases of stationery, but due to digital services, these costs are saved.
