Types of Bosses/Supervisors
A boss might be described as a person who supervises job activities and persons in a particular company or business. These types of bosses include; power tripper bosses, hands-off bosses, buddy bosses, apathetic bosses, micromanagers, the balanced bosses, and the shiny object chase.
Power tripper bosses are generally self-centered bosses. For all time, the boss rudely shows his authority and might always rely on co-workers to uphold his position in an organization. The boss constantly stays as the organization’s supervisor even once their terms have ended because of changes that they enforce to favor them at last. This kind of boss plan, at all times, spoils the confidence of workers and demean the organization’s honesty as well because most personnel might not be contented working with this supervisor.
The hands-off bosses consider that their employees might always make the best with slight interference; they ensure that employees are offered freedom to carry out their responsibilities in a flexible way (Lazear 843). These handoff bosses offer very inadequate information. Therefore, workers ought to constantly be prepared to communicate repeatedly to explain; otherwise, they might finish up doing things in the wrong way.
The buddy bosses constantly wish to make friendship at the place of work, and most of the time, workers recognize them as friends and not bosses because they provide soft recommendations and responses, and they might not come up with strict rules. These bosses always allow employees to accomplish their job with flexibility, even if workers will not advance their skills due to the inadequate guiding principles.
Micromanagers is very tough bosses, and workers usually find it difficult to cope with them; for example, they like to request deeply how different projects are operating and infrequently inform employees on ways of dealing with issues on an everyday basis; generally, it might be very hard for the boss to pay attention to the objective of workers.
The shiny object chasers are bosses who have no focus and flexibility. They will always start projects and by no means do reports; for instance, he might inform his employees to set up the software and might never ask about it until one of the employees notify him concerning the progress. These shiny object chasers are problems for an organization and might negatively affect employees.
It’s very hard to find a balanced boss in the organization since they hold different qualities and can balance them. For all time, he makes sure that employees are flexible and all at once they are capable of following rules. A balanced boss might be approached easily because they might by no means cross their professional line—employees who are strong-minded like being managed by these bosses because they might get promotions at any moment.
Apathetic bosses have got a related character with a handoff boss. However, he might be very negative while accomplishing their duties because they do not care about their managers’ position. Such a boss finds it hard to acknowledge workers’ feedback since they are sensitive to their level of ineffectiveness.
To conclude, any boss might be good or bad, relying on an individual’s opinion towards the supervisor. Every one of the types might be either helpful or unfavorable to the employee; for example, some employees wish unbiased bosses. In contrast, others might go for apathetic bosses.
