Career Research Essay
I’ve always excelled in my academic work since I was a child. My parents, teachers, and other people who knew me thought I would be a teacher when growing up. I must admit that being a teacher had crossed my mind several times when I was a kid. When I was a teenager, I wanted to start my own business and be my own boss. Business, to me, was a path to an independent and successful life. I liked the fact that I would work any time I desired without pressure from my employer and with no ceiling income. When I became an adult, things did not turn out as I expected. Although there was no ceiling on income, I had to work for more hours than I projected. For this reason, I ended up working for Hewlett Packard as a debug tech. Even though I had not accomplished my dream of becoming an entrepreneur, the dream still lived on, and it needed a little spark to be reignited. The urge to be self-employed motivated me to have plans. I gave myself a maximum of one year to resign from my job and set up my own business. I used to work in the morning hours and sacrificed my evening hours to study and do research and analysis on careers. Finally, I decided to venture into the financial field. I had to go to school to be recognized as a licensed insurance agent. With time, I became a dual agent by attaining a property and causality (A p & c) LICENSE; then afterward, I attained a series 6 license. It has taken years of dedication, hard work and determination to accomplish my dream and goal of becoming an entrepreneur. I am still working hard and smart to grow my business to leave an endowment to benefit LGBTQ YOUTH that has the dream of venturing in this field of business. It will enable them to receive internships and scholarships and become a significant part of the organization.
. For my business to be consistently successful, I have to be driven with the five significant Cliftonstrength, which are; achiever, learner, intellection, strategic and Restorative. These strengths are crucial for every entrepreneur. As a learner, I am ready to learn new things that will help improve my business. The process of learning excites me more than the outcome. I like socializing more with people who engage in conversations about ideas more thoughtful and deeper. Learning is tremendously beneficial in helping me accomplish my career goals. Learning will help me become more adaptable to change. By developing an open mindset and believing that I can learn new things, I will be more adaptable to workplace changes and my profession. I will also be more enthusiastic about adapting to the new customs of working.
Continuing with my professional development and learning will keep me up to date with the new emergence and advances in technology. I will not be left behind as innovation impacts the working process. I will remain relevant in a transforming landscape as technology improves and the economy revolves. Learning will enable me to be more proactive in my career. Instead of waiting for great things to happen, I will have the energy of making them happen. Being proactive will help me make better decisions, take ownership of my performance, and better control my career progression. Learning will also help me set and accomplish my significant objectives and goals. It will help me know the most important aspect of my career by defining my beliefs, values and what I desire to accomplish. Learning will also help me identify any weaknesses and develop significant skills in my career. Learning will help me improve my weaker skills and develop myself into working better. As an achiever, I take vast satisfaction from not only being busy but also being productive. This strength will help me accomplish great things in my career. It will motivate me into setting and accomplishing my career goals. I will share with my colleagues the job that needs to be done and motivate them, thus improving my business’s efficiency.
The achievement theme will help me put an order to work by keeping record of accomplished work, making lists, and helping uphold the business’s efficiency. Being strategic will also positively impact my career. Strategic management goes beyond refining the bottom line of the business. It will help me think about my business’s future and set the direction for the business and the employees. It will help me constantly monitor, plan, and test the business’ activities, resulting in better market share, profitability and operational efficiency. Restorative strength is also crucial for the success of my business. This theme will help me carefully analyze my work, identifying key problems and coming up with an effective solution to solve the problem in my career.
