Competing definition of health
Introduction
The health situation has sparked a tremendous debate in the USA. The concern about the health quality are escalating. Media houses have published about the accessibility and cost of health to millions of Americans .Health costs are estimated to spike out of management, exposing the risks of coverage to large population in USA (Tetteh, 2011). The society, irrespective of their politics, is now raising concerns publicly and wants those in management to account about the health care ( Tetteh, 2011). They also want their opinions appreciated and adhered to. Having gone through the health condition states in USA, I therefore define health as, “The condition of being sound in body, mind, and spirit, especially free of disease or infirmity “Therefore the paper is set to discuss why the health condition is vital to Americans, the impacts of health to individual and on acute hospital care, chronic illness, disease prevention, population health on economy and stake holders.
The health of Americans is a very vital tool they need on their daily life .It’s not something a health personnel should be gambling with and risks exposing the population to health crisis. Therefore, a lot of emphasis should be directed to health care .When the health of the citizens is undermined, it will affect the production industry immensely. There will be a lot of absenteeism since people have fallen sick hence affecting the job production .Health crisis if given full attention will reduce the amount of money channeled to management of infections, since the population will be healthy, there will be reduction on time spend on medication and cost. Lastly, the life expectancy of Americans will be increased, the population will not threatened by a crisis. More citizens will be healthy hence reducing the death rate.
On personal level, the health comes as a path to success .When the national experts on health gives the health care a less priority, it tends to affect the personal growth of Americans. For instance, when the protest to improve the health sector is not attended to, large population will fall sick. This will lead to hospitalization of many Americans. They will be forced to dick down their savings and account for the cost of their sickness, Thus ,the individual personal growth will brought down by the cost of managing the sickness. Money that could be used to pay bills, expand individuals project and home usage, will be directed to hospital bills . Production in the community growth will be reduced by a great rate. Locals will not have opportunity to look after their community .Community projects will be halted, example men working in mines, factories, schools will be hospitalized hence leading to this project to stand still.
Health ignorance will also affect the acute hospitals. Here it will be the matter between the inpatient times they will be spending in hospital bed. Those patients who will take long hours and days in hospital will have to pay more than those who partially admitted .The cost will affect the patients with complicated diagnosis hence forcing them to stay long hospital, thus giving the hospital opportunity so surge their bills.
Currently, more than half the population of USA is estimated to have chronic illness. This is contributing to 80% of chronic disease (Tetteh, 2011). The national leadership on health has not given positive respond on chronic illness concern. As a results, health care problems have occurred, since there is low concerns on accessing care, its best responsive and hence leading to high costs ( Tetteh, 2011).. From previous years, the health leadership has not been giving much attention to chronic illness. Americans have been forced to critic about it, since the government has considered chronic illness as acute disease since the protest begun, the national leadership on health has been forced to look into the matter. It has led to improvement of the needs of the patients and their expectation responded to.
When it comes to preventing the health crisis from occurring, the government should take preventive measures that will prevent more conflicts. For example, the prices of the drugs should be addressed and find on the formula in reducing the prices (Harrington, 2010). Technology should also be appreciated as the use of generic drugs should be encouraged. Also the government should assist in reducing the cost of national insurance cover, because this will help In government coming with ways of paying the some covers against what an individual can afford. Lastly, structuring of the health committee will also help. Since the national committee deals with control of the costs, quality and increment of prices.
Health plays a big role in economy of the USA .There are factors that USA is facing when it to come health crisis .There is unemployment due to poor health. Because people are losing jobs and have to treat the condition hence affecting the economy on employment indexes (Janlert,. 2009).. The government is spending a lot of funds to junk food industry hence increasing the population with Obesity. This money should be instead directed to healthy food industry (Janlert, 2009). From this, it’s estimated that, within a period of two years the cases of the medical costs savings will have reduced. Thus, the amount by government in managing Obesity will be reduced. Another economical problem is that more funds are spend in health and neglecting other projects such as roads, education that are much of value to the economy. Lastly the government should identify what is of more value in health system. More funds are spend on medical programs that are not cost effective and ignoring the public health sensitization programs. It will be of more value if government educates the public on importance of health rather than spending on medicinal programs.
Conclusion
In conclusion, health at large is the most priority of human life. It’s the energy they need to move on with the normal way of life. Therefore the government should not take the matter lightly. In fact a lot of measures should be put in consideration to prevent the citizens from getting subjected to health dilemma. Health has also proven to contribute in economy growth. When the health is triggered, so many citizens are affected from their work history, whereby the economy is put at surge of collapsing. Several measures if put in place, will boost the health system and hence driving the economy .Lastly, the government should put several strategies to assist in solving the health system. It will help in reducing the amount spend by citizens in paying the bills and get to develop other economy drivers instead of spending in health alone.
