Cargo Business
- How did cultural differences affect the development of the cargo business?
Business efficiency was impacted due to employees possessing different attitudes toward work. Completing work tasks was disjointed between the Russian employees and the Finnish Employees, which means some work was left undone. Russian were encouraged by their culturally-established values to do extra tasks and take their jobs as top priority while Finnish had no such cultural attitudes. The varying working attitudes and values interrupted coordination between the two groups and intensified disputes, and dragged organization development (Suder, 2011). Another way the differences impact growth of the cargo business is through causing customer dissatisfaction. Russian customers worked on a different schedule that Finnish employees could not keep up with and deliver to customers on need (Suder, 2011). When the customer is not satisfied, it affects the sales of the business.
- What skills are required to overcome difficulties associated with cultural differences?
The most effective skills in handling cultural differences are enacting communication. Through communication, people can clear up prejudices that the other party has about their cultures and explain how their cultural beliefs and values work. Communication gives people the chance to weigh their varying opinions and decide what works better. Another skill is close interaction with each other. Interacting ensures that one culture has some background about the other culture. Understanding each other’s cultures helps ensure people know when to draw boundaries and not to overstep in a way that appears as culturally insensitive to the other.

- What do you notice is the same or different in 3, 4, 5, and 6 players? How they deal with cultural issues be successful?
One thing that can be similar in all cargo players is their employees’ interaction with clients from different regions and cultures. These players’ organizational environment is also faced with cultural diversity based on the divisions and branches the companies deal with to sustain their business operations. One way they could be dealing with cultural differences is by promoting diverse opinions, which will build organizational inclusiveness and increase employee performance (Perttunen, 2017). Another way is through taking time to learn the client’s cultural beliefs and values. Clients are an essential part of any business. To ensure customers are happy, all their needs should be satisfied without any cultural interference. Therefore, employees learning the client’s cultural background will improve satisfaction and make the business successful.
