Question one
As a new manager, I would implement various changes such as a new technology, a new leadership style, and a new organizational culture. Introducing new technology in the organization would present different challenges that would require a change in the organizational culture. The experts responsible for shepherding technical innovation should also be able to educate employees on behaving differently to align with the new technology. Besides, this would call for a democratic leadership style to ensure that everyone participates in change. I would make these changes to ensure that I optimize production. If implemented well, these changes would ensure that my team uses the best technologies in the world for efficiency.
Question two
Samsung Company has been facing various challenges due to the changing global microeconomic environment (Lee & Shin, 2018). One of the organization’s major challenges is high competition that later leads to lower prices. One of the ways to fix this challenge is to develop sophisticated products. The organization should invest highly in innovation and ensure that it only provides high-quality, unique products. This kind of change will be beneficial since most of the organizations in the market do not provide high-quality products due to a lack of funds.
Question three
I believe the people who have effective leadership skills in the business world are Bill Gates, Richard Branson, and Warren Buffett. Buffett uses a leadership style known as Laissez-Faire, where he makes a few decisions in the organization. On the other hand, Bill Gates uses authoritarian leadership, where he dictates most of the organization’s policies (Howladar & Taher, 2016). Finally, Richard Branson uses collaborative leadership, where he includes all employees in decision making. From their leadership styles, I understand that I can only apply a certain style depending on the needs of the organization.
Question five
Just like most leaders, I also have found myself in situations where I have failed terribly. For instance, there was a time I was managing a project at school, and I was so eager to please my tutor by completing it within one week. Unfortunately, I ended up taking three weeks, and I was so frustrated. Additionally, there was a time my group members asked me to select another individual to join our group. I ended up choosing a person whom I thought had potential but did not actually the person did not have any skills. Also, there was a time I failed to get my grades right, and I was so frustrated. These failures have impacted my performance today since I have been more conservative when estimating time to complete projects.
Question eight
My personal leadership style is collaborative, since sinceI basically prefer enhancing relationships between managers and employees. This type of leadership has developed over the years, where I have held different leadership positions in school. This style can be used when many departments work collaboratively. It can also be used to make people work with other teams in the organization. Finally, it can be used when an organization wants to adopt cross-functional teams.
