Personal Statement
With the ever-changing world and increased technological development, research is necessary to inform the actions to be taken and ensure that we are in line with this dynamic world. There have been increased cases where actions do not exactly address the challenges experienced, this is because they are not well informed due to lack of proper research in certain areas. Research associates play a very vital role in determining the actions to be taken to improve the livelihoods, with this scholarship I would get a chance to pursue my dream that seems a challenge to achieve of becoming an exceptional researcher in the world of research through a Masters in Bioinformatics.
I schooled in a very small school that lacked facilities where most of the students worked hard amidst the challenges to achieve their goals. Most schools continued to receive funding including those that did not post good results, that is, they never added great value to the students. I attributed this to failure in conducting proper researcher that would inform the right action, if our school was properly funded it would have produced very vibrant scientists. It is this observation that gave me a dream to pursue in life to make sure that good research is done and that the correct course of actions recommended.
My father was the main breadwinner in our family and since his passing, ten years ago my mother has been having challenges to take care of the family’s needs and fund our education. I have already completed my undergraduate studies in biotechnology though in a very challenging environment since I had to source some causal employments to help my mother in funding my education and that of other siblings. I’m intending to do my Master’s degree in Bioinformatics but it seems a mirage since there are financial constraints. I feel confident and qualified to take on the challenges that the field of research offers to give reliable information and a course of action that would ensure development in all the sectors.
Accorded Support in my second degree through scholarship would give not only me but my family also a major boost in achieving what is beneficial to the whole globe as a society. The full scholarship would transform our livelihood as a family such that my mother would be in a position to educate the other siblings and later I will have a chance to support them in attaining their dreams. Besides, back home I have started a youth program for younger future researchers and this will form a very strong foundation for these students too. Once I am successful, this is one of the areas I am planning to serve, mentor and support as a way of giving back to society. I am glad to be accorded this scholarship opportunity, should I be selected, I will venture in to research world in Bioinformatics.
A request for a scholarship should address key concepts to make the bid a success. It is important to show how the support will add value to your life by helping achieve your goals. One should focus more on the intended purpose of the scholarship, explain clearly why you need a scholarship and why you are the best candidate. One should never be afraid of explaining their strengths and stating the obstacles to achieving the goals. Besides, it is important to indicate ways put in place to overcome such obstacles. It is important to note that many other students are applying for the posts and they too need the post, as such use positive language that is likely to convince them and select you for the position.
