Communication Issues in Business
Introduction
Currently, the business world is facing remarkable transformations in communication methods in the universal intercultural context. Internal office communication is essential for productive businesses and teamwork. Whereas Communication is the main aspect of a business’s success, poor Communication may negatively impact the business affecting the current and potential clients. Therefore, business owners should not neglect communication; instead, they should learn how to prevent barriers to effective communication in the company’s day-to-day operations.
First Article
This article summarizes the most common trends of business intercultural Communication and tries to find variables of this Communication to effectively promote business processes in the global world, leading to maximum efficiency and profits. The internet presentation as a new communication method has transformed how information is transferred and how companies communicate. Thus the need for research from linguistic, socio pragmatics, and managerial and Communication studies was very urgent. However, the combination still lacks in Communication today
.
The communication devices used in business communication have experienced unmatched transformations in which the information is conveyed. Understanding this phenomenon will help business managers facilitate business communication and abolish misinterpretation, creating severe disputes in the business market (Phikart, 2017). The current communication devices are employed in an individual’s daily Communication and are widely used in business communication. More individuals from various cultural environments use communication tools to exchange information. The background and communication platform is therefore established by the modern communication tools and intercultural business context. Communication tools and intercultural context greatly influence the essence of business communication. A few issues are emerging from the universal nature of the current business communication such as difficulties while searching for a common language, struggles with deficient interpretations into the subordinate language, struggles with spoken language and its diversity, centralizing authority to few people who lead the company with officials making the few individuals who lack language and communication skills feel isolated.
The companies must communicate in the global business context during international business using modern communication technologies. Nevertheless, the managers do not know the possible communication problems appearing from the situations. According to research done in several Asian and European multinational organizations, the amount of conveyed information has increased along with its quality (Phikart 2017). the language proficiency of the companies’ middle and top management was at a good level, but the intercultural communication proficiency seemed neglected. Few companies only embraced intercultural communication training. The business communication has fundamentally changed as staff interviewed in the companies complained of uneven escalation of the information volume; the amount and quality of information are cynical. Virtual electronic Communication has dominated over the mail leading to measurably unrestricted streams of dozens of emails daily, causing remarkable problems in sustaining the Communication in a manageable means. Most critical parts of the information are lost while conveying the information due to the improper use of modern communication.
I have learned that Communication plays a significant role in modern business and is likely one of the most important issues when engaging in global business (Phikart 2017). neglecting Communication and its proper functions would result in critical implications that would unavoidably lead to loss of the current or potential market. The companies must embrace modern communication technology while doing global business.
Article 2 summary
This article has investigated the effective transformation of Communication in the workplace by using goal-setting theory. Most organizations depend on effective Communication for their success, and when adjustments are being made in a company, Communication is the key factor in the effective execution of the changes. Nevertheless, contemporary companies face that amends are not effectively communicated, thus negatively impacting the community’s daily functions. Ineffective communication can give rise to defiance to change, rumors, facilitate exaggeration of the negative elements related to change, and negatively influence the organization’s culture (Harp 2015). The article aimed to examine effectual amendment communication in the workplace. Despite the essence of Communication to effectively enhance change in a company, scholars’ conceptualization of effective change communication by scholars has been given less attention in the literature. Organizations have several goals that help steer performance, mainly when an amendment is occurring.
Organizational objectives aim to lead the company toward desirable outcomes. In cases where the organization strives to present notable changes and use Communication, effective communication change would achieve the wanted results. Thus Communication is the medium that organized members use to attain wanted outcomes. According to the research, Communication has notable features on both a person and the corporation level that will help achieve desired outcomes.
I have learned that a Communication audit is the ultimate recognized way of evaluating Communication through amendments in a company (Harp 2015). Creating a new measure of effectiveness to disclose the current state of organizational Communication is important
Article 3 summary.
Poor Communication in the workplace gives rise to conflicts, annoyance, confusion, and an extremely unrelaxed atmosphere where individuals lack the motivation to be effective and not motivated to cooperate. Lack of motivation extends to how the staff relates to the clients and possible customers. The occurrence of poor Communication is not adequate to plainly identify the specific issues and disputes; instead, analyzing its causes is essential to effectively counter the effects of poor commutation (Vdovin 2017). Some of the causes of poor communication in the workplace include unclear objectives. Employers do not know an individual expectation in the workplace during employment. Face-to-face discussion with the employee is necessary to avoid frustration and confusion and unintended staff’s unintended poor performance. Employers should address the objectives of the whole company to the employees.
Poor leadership contributes to poor communication in the workplace. The employers depend on the business managers for directions; thus, if the individuals in managing positions have poor leaders, the organization’s Communication will possibly worsen (Vdovin,2017). Good leaders can motivate to lead by example and motivate staff; however, bad leaders are inconclusive and cannot motivate the staff members. Their communication skills are poor, thus answering questions and making clarifications difficult, leaving their staff frustrated and confused. Cultural diversity in the workplace has also contributed to communication issues in the workplace. The work environment diversification has led to people from different cultures, races, religious beliefs, genders, and working in the same organizations. Diversity in employment is good; however, there is potential for poor communication in the workplace as different people from different backgrounds will convert messaged in varying ways using varied nonverbal cues. The interpretation of the message might vary, resulting in complex communication issues.
I have learned that the common causes that lead to communication issues in a business must be analyzed to solve issues at the root to suppress the further sequence of communication line breakdown in the workplace.
Conclusion
The business world is facing a lot of changes with current communication trends. The introduction of the internet, in particular, has changed the method in which Communication and conveying of information take place in the business (Phikart 2017). The business managers should be aware of these trends to facilitate effective Communication and avoid misinterpretation. Communication tools and intercultural context greatly influence the essence of business communication. Moreover, most organizations depend on Communication when introducing change. Thus the managers should be careful to ensure that the Communication has been effectively used to avoid rumor or misinterpretation of information, leading to change resistance.
