Personal Statement

What’s up everybody, it’s our Win it Minute for the day. Wherever you are, I hope they would make an awesome day because no matter the obstacles in front of you, every day is an opportunity for you to win the day. Today I want to talk about the concept of focus and attention, and how your mindset, and what you focus on, can be the difference in winning your day and not winning your day. And sometimes that difference is so small. So razor-thin, that you can’t even tell, but it all matters about your focus and your attention.

In nature and life, the strongest forces are the most powerful when they’re focused. Think about a rainstorm, sometimes you get a little bit of rain or a little bit of wind, or when it comes through like a hurricane, it’s such a focused amount of energy coming through, steam is so powerful. It’s more powerful, though when it’s directed into a small amount. That steam can power a locomotive engine, as opposed to just out randomly in the air, evaporating and wildly blowing around.

That’s what our focus and attention can be on any given day. Most people’s minds are restless and untrained. We get off track because we’re watching something on Instagram or Facebook or where we just read something in a newspaper or saw it on Facebook, or we just saw the news. And all of a sudden, your mind goes somewhere else instead of focusing on the task at hand. But, the good news is you can actually train your mind and develop the ability to concentrate and focus on all the [inaudible 00:01:35] on your mindset. These are all trainable parts that your brain can handle. You can train your mind to see things in a different way. To focus on things in a different way.

I wrote this great article and it said;” At 211 degrees, water is hot. It’s almost boiling hot, but it doesn’t do anything. At 212 degrees, water boils, and that boiling water creates steam. And that steam can be so powerful. It can power a locomotive engine”. As I said, you gotta realize that, one degree of extra effort in anything that you’re doing today can make all the difference. And sometimes it’s that one degree, comes from focus or energy or your attention, that you’re applying to what you’re trying to accomplish.

The Olympics and the Olympic medals, usually the difference between, someone finishing with a gold medal and no medal at all, is less than half a second in a lot of events. Then one half a second is the difference between total success and no success. And you can get to those things in your day. Maybe you’re not going after Olympic medal. Maybe, you’re trying to finish a work project, make sure that your kids are succeeding in school or just helping other people around. It just takes one degree of efforts sometimes, and focus and attention to win your day.
