The whole article compares the statistical test between the black and the white juvenile on the level of lawbreaking. The research is carried out by the psychologists and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory. To start with is the research carried out by the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, research was to prove that black Americans are overrepresented in the prisons. This is due to their low socioeconomic value, and are fully discriminated against in America simply because of racism. However, other researchers have tried to prove that the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory statistical results are biased. Still, they have not proven above doubt that these statistical values are not correct.
The Minnesota multiphasic personality inventory shows similar black and white cases committing serious offenses with both of their percentage correspondings. When it comes to less severe offenses, the black leads I term of the percentage while the white juvenile has a lower percentage than black. On the institutional lawbreaking, the white leads the percentage with the black juvenile having a lower percentage. According to these values, through black juvenile leads in the less severe offenses, there seems to be no bias on black juveniles, bearing in mind that this is a research done on the juveniles who averaged sixteen years of age.
The other research carried out by the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory is on the performance of both Black and White juveniles. This was examined through a test that would qualify the diagnostic and evaluation center, where the research would be thoroughly carried out. It was evident that the white juvenile percentage exceeded that of the black juvenile. This is also another scenario that shows that the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory was no bias on the black during the results. With the delinquents’ availability in the diagnostic and evaluation center, there was proper training of those who participated in the research. There would be no bias on any group of the juvenile.
The training included the Behaviour Problem Checklist, a racing scale designed for the adult observer to observe and rate the children’s behavior at the adolescent stage. Since the research was on examining the delinquents of these children and the adolescents, then the only scale used was the Conduct Problem scale because the other scales had some items that would not be appropriate for the studies being carried out. Within a short period in the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center, the staff completed the checklist by the staff who carried out the research. And the staff could now make their ratings independently without consulting each other.
Another thing to note was that approximately seventy percent of the staff members were black. This was done to curb others’ problems, saying that the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory was bias on the black youths who participated in the research. After the research, it was evident that the highest percentage of black youths depicted the conduct disorder during their stay in the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center. Also, the white youths, on the other hand, show a lower level of conduct disorder.
The psychology trainees conducted the second research that was carried out. In contrast with the staff who conducted the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory research, about ninety percent of these psychology trainees were white. This research used a different scale of 4-point scale, which was anchored by the following labels; within normal limits, mild, moderate, and severe. The research was carried out without knowing the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory research that had been carried earlier. This research compared the neurotic psychotic and the conduct disorder of the delinquents, and the values gotten after the study showed some correlation between the black and white youths. This would doubly support the criteria there before. Although the results didn’t show the full depiction of the results according to the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, the numbers at least rhymed in some manners, which would show that in some way, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory was not biased of the black juvenile.
As the article indicates, the largest number of offenders are black youths. In counseling or psychometric services, this makes it easier to reach out to them and give them the right directives to live in the right manner possible. Also, the article’s analysis helps the government in the addition of the counseling centers if they are not enough. This enhances the enlightening of both white and black youth on moral values. The analysis helps me know the best methods to guide the youths and the number of youths involved in such offenses. This also helps me in ways of researching to improve the skills of data collection and data analysis.
The new awareness created is that the most significant percentage of the offenders among the youths are black youths. This, therefore, makes one conclude that great emphasis on the teaching of good morals should be placed on the black youths. Although some white youths are also involved, the significant number is from black youths. The other awareness created is that racism should be eliminated from independent institutions to enhance their smooth running. In the article, I like the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory’s research and their shreds of evidence based on the research that they carried out. Also, they are in place of proving that they are not based on black youth. Whatever sounds unpleasing in the article is the disapproval of the research done earlier by the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory that was first proving the black youth of having the largest percentage on the committing of the offenses. Yet there was an explicit provision of the evidence and causing the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory to carry out the research a fresh resulting to more or less the same results.
