A nurse is a professional in health care who focuses on the caring of individuals and communities in maintain and recover the health. The work of a nurse is to inform and support patients when they have questions and apprehensive about treatment, procedure or any other aspect of their care.  Nursing is the act of maintaining quality health care in communities and individuals; the nursing profession is believed to has begun in the early 1854. Florence Nightingale was the first nurse; she was a British woman led a number of female nurses to the Crimea. After she returned to England, she established education programs in a number of British hospitals.

The nursing profession has evolved over time due to new inversion in the health sector and new diseases. When nursing began, it entailed very little to do with medical training; women learned medical skills form their mothers and women in the same profession. Women were just caretakers; thus, the role of nursing was just an extension of their roles in the communities. Today, the nursing profession has improved drastically; there are training programs, more responsibility and better hospitals.

Many changes are occurring in healthcare to delivery care; some of these changes are economical and social factors. Nurses respond to these changes by making innovations to traditional nursing so as to meet these changes. Some years back describing the role of RNs was because there were a few opportunities for variation but today job opportunities for RNs is high complicated as nurses are practising in literally hundreds of diverse settings with a wide variety of clients.
