If Hamilton and Jefferson could see our nation now, which of the two would feel like their ideal was realized, or neither? Point out Hamiltonian and Jeffersonian things in our society today to support your opinion.

Both Alexander Hamilton along with Thomas Jefferson had their own distinct beliefs in the 19th century, with many of these being evident in the society today. Of the two, the ideals of Jefferson are the ones that are more evident in the society in the present day. The political beliefs by Hamilton only lasted for a short while. For instance, Hamilton came up with a party that was centred around his beliefs of having a strong central government. In this regard, the only Federalist president that was selected was John Adams. On the other hand, the beliefs by Jefferson called for the sovereignty of the state as opposed to having a strong central government as the federalists suggested. In the present day, Jeffersonian belief is evident because there is state sovereignty shown by each of their flexibility with laws and rights to vote, and that the elections are held with the Democrat and Republican candidates. The beliefs of Hamilton ended when the Federalist Party was adjourned in 1828. However, the ideals of Hamilton are evident in economic terms. For instance, he is known to be the father of the American National Banking System. This banking system set a precedent for the systems today. The bank operates in a unified manner in the sense that people can engage in appropriate deposit along with the withdrawal of cash. Without having such a system in place, it would be difficult to manage the money.

Would you have voted for John Adams to be reelected in 1800? Why or why not?

I would not have voted for the reelection of John Adams in 1800. Up to date, he is known to be the only Federalist president. Most of the other presidents are either the republicans or the democrats. In a federalist state, there is a need to have a strong central government, with a limitation in the state sovereignty. The ideology by Jefferson needed the opposite, which is having widespread sovereignty. After the end of John Adam’s four-year term, a decision was arrived at on whether he should be kept in the office or not. According to history, Thomas Jefferson was soon reelected thereafter. I support this move because during his first term in office, he passed some favourable laws and actions. For instance, he declared the Quasi-war, whose effect was limiting some immigrants their right to vote. Even though John Adams had many accomplishments, the federalist or the first party had to step down and see what the democrats along with the Republicans should do. In our nation, it is important to accept new ideas. Choosing Jefferson was a great plan to show the idea.

Over 2,200 American soldiers died in combat in the War of 1812. Did we get anything out of this war that was worth that many lives? Explain why you think the way you do.

I think the war of 1812 was necessary. The war was between the Americans and the British and began with blockades of America trading its goods along with the acts of impressment. The British, in this regard, spurred hostility of the Native Americas to words their nation. This in collaboration with the infringement of the British of their maritime rights led to a bitter relationship along with the outbreak in war. Many people question whether this war was really necessary. As far as I am concerned, I have a belief that was because not many years ago, the colonists fought the revolutionary war that saw America gain independence. However, any war with Britain after this was regarded as close to the revolutionary war. All the lives lost were, however, necessary, and this is due to the fact that if the war claimed lives of many Americans, then it would be easier for Britain to bring the loyalty of America back to the crown. With a lot of irony, the British came very close, and this was by burning down the White House along with losing decisive battles to include those from Perry. Even though no territory was gained, the gesture was that America fought hard against the nation that boasts to have the strongest navy in the world. Britain officially came to an understanding that they are not able to make America loyal to them again.

Suppose it is 1810. What advice would you give Tecumseh to help him be more successful in his goals than he actually was?

Tecumseh who was basically a Shawnee chief presenting the Native Americans in which all the Native Americans were forced to move from their homelands as a result of westward expansion.  In this regard, Britain had sided with the native Americans and this is because Britain was of the idea of stopping Americans from interfering with them for trading, with the native Americans being of the idea that they should stop Americans from sending them out of their homelands. At the start of the war, Tecumseh leading the Shawnee tribe sided with the British with the hope that they would gain the wishes of each other. My advice to Tecumseh is that he would tell General Brock in Canada to refrain from taking charge of the Battle of the Queenstown Heights due to the fact that it was a detriment to Britain. In retrospect, this battle turned out to be useless. The British could have garnered more efforts elsewhere rather than having General Brock killed.
