The Right to Abortion
The writer claims that women should have the freedom for abortion, and the world must embrace this right. The article claims that politicians are arguing against abortion, and the speaker argues that abortion is a sovereign right that should be afforded to women so that they can control their bodies. Women should have the right to do what they want with their bodies, and this is essential in ensuring that there is gender equity and population regulation in the world. The article argues that the moral and religious objects are threatening the Roe vs. Wade ruling because of the influence that they have had on reproductive rights. There is numerous evidence that the writer uses to articulate his argument. She presents facts such as “Seven in 10 Americans, across party lines, say they do not want to see Roe v. Wade overturned.” She also argues that Trump administration has forced many people out of Title X, especially Planned Parenthood hence reducing the number of people accessing birth control and cancer screenings.
The writer also argues through the example of a documentary “Ours to Tell” that shows how the freedom for safe and legal abortion has helped to give women agency over their bodies. The writer also gives self-reflection where she argues that her experience of safe abortion has made her life better. The writer does address opposing arguments but vilifies them. The writer uses various fallacies to make her argument. She uses hasty generalization, “despite what some politicians would have us believe, most Americans support that right.” The writer presents her work with honesty by giving her own experiences and evidence that mirrors the findings by other researchers. The writer also argues her point with the right tone by showing concern for the future generation. I agree with the writer’s claim in the article because safe and legal abortion should be provided to the women in the society. There is need to give women agency over their bodies and protect the Roe v. Wade outcome to ensure that restriction in abortion access is not given the go-ahead. I believe women should be able to access safe abortion to have control over their reproductive health.
