How Do Boys Become Men?
I agree with Jon Kart’s reasoning about the nature of all men. Men are perceived as less communicative as they lack the guts to speak out about their problems and feeling. They also are insensitive to critical issues affecting them, their children, and their wives. Boys are born hardy compared to girls, and they later mature into a heartless individual who takes everything lightly. Many men do not show mercy on their fellow men as they believe men should fight for themselves. Significantly few men will open up to fellow men like ladies do with their problems. This paper will explain why men are less sensitive, less sympathetic, and less communicative than women.
Studies show that men and women are different in all dimensions. Women are said to be outspoken and inquisitive compared to men, and many women are extroverts. Women and men are all found on earth, but they have a diverse way of thinking and speaking. The two genders faced with a common problem react differently. Men fail to communicate when faced with a problem as they think they are strong, and only weak men express themselves (Coates, 2015). Most boys and girls, while growing, are segregated and forced to socialize with individuals of their gender.
Studies show that men and women view communication differently. Men perceive communication as a way of maintaining social status and independence. On the other hand, women perceive communication as a way of bonding, creating new friends, and building relationships. Men use communication to negotiate for power, offering advice, avoiding the elements of failure, and on the other hand, women communicate with people to get understanding and equality or asymmetry. Psychology, however, shows that half of the communication in a conversation among people is done nonverbally. Nonverbal communication includes body movements and facial expression communication.
Men believe that communication should solve a particular problem hard while women use communication to express their feelings and communicate what they want. In this case, women speak many words in a single day compared to their fellow men. A lady sees communication as a way of increasing and sharing intimacy with their spouses. They also get relieved from negative feelings and solidifies their bond with their lovers. As usual, men will prefer productivity and efficiency in most hours in a day to set a few hours for communication. Men will only speak when it is necessary and productive.
Many men, when giving a story, will concentrate on the main point to avoid being repetitive. A man will interrupt a lady speaking too much to provide a solution. Men are not good listeners to long stories, and they will show you when they have heard enough from you. Women like giving a detailed report when communicating an idea, and they achieve this by exploring and organizing their thoughts. Women, unlike men, fail to understand necessary information and end up speaking on every matter (Denes et al., 2015). Generally, when a lady communicates, she does not search for a solution but rather someone to listen to and understand their problems and feelings.
Men are also perceived as less sensitive than women because they fail to concentrate on important issues affecting their families. Men are generally known to take all things lightly, falling on important matters affecting their spouses and children. Research shows that women outperform men in emotional informational processing. Females are known to so compassionate and merciful to people suffering from different problems. Women can study people’s emotions just by the look of their facial expressions. To some extent, women have been gifted with the ability to understand an infant’s need through its facial expression.
Sociological studies show that women are commonly heart in a relationship than men. Men always strive to emerge the most vital partner in relationships, and therefore they try at all costs to hide the feelings from their spouses. Men are known to bleed from inside when they are hurt emotionally. A lady will cry out when hurt to overcome stress and problems in life. When stressed, other men turn to drugs and substance abuse in their quest to run from reality (Pease & Pease, 2016). The study also depicted that in many relationships, men are likely to indulge in drug and substance abuse
In conclusion, men are perceived as powerful human beings compared to women. Boys are brought up in a society full of stereotypes about manhood. Boys believe that men do not should not seek help when faced with some problems. Men are also hardy and less sympathetic because they think that each man should fight for themselves. Men become too insensitive to their issues and concerns affecting their families. They do not also have that capacity to express their emotions facially even when faced with severe problems. Many die out of depression as they struggle with their issues alone.
