It is the responsibility of every employer to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the employees. This calls on employees and employers to be conversant with the health and safety laws in their jurisdictions. In Kenya and Uganda, for following law regulate workplace health and safety.
Kenya

Uganda
- The Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2006.

Apart from the local regulations, the following international health and safety recommendations also apply:
- International Labor Organization (ILO) Occupational Health Service Convention, 1985; and
- WHO’s Global Strategy on Occupational Health for All, 1994
