Students from various learning institutions across the world are underutilizing mobile devices. The students still lack the information on how mobile devices with their applications and technology can be essential in collaborative learning. Mobile technologies can be used appropriately in learning environments to support collaborative learning for students.
The principal aim of using mobile technology is to enhance student engagement and motivation in learning environments. The rise of Covid-19 pandemic has ravaged the everyday learning of students in all the institutions. An improvement needs to be done using mobile technologies so that students can interact with teachers and other classmates anywhere and anytime. The current research aims at improving the available mobile technologies to promote both offline and online engagement of students using mobile technologies. The research will use a mixed approach to investigate how mobile technologies are used in a local college. The population of the study comprises of all students from the college. Interviews and questionnaires will be used to get a response on how the students use mobile technology in collaborative learning, together with the benefits they have obtained. The expectation is that using mobile technology in student collaborative learning enhances student engagement and academic improvements.
