The greatest obstacle to social and economic development in Africa is access to energy. According to the Africa Energy Outlook 2019 report, about 600 million people in Africa do not have access to electricity. My goal is to provide cleaner and affordable access to energy for 500,000 people by 2023. Master’s degree program in sustainable energy at the University of Edinburgh will position my career trajectory as a professional energy consultant.
I have experience as an industrial automation engineer with a deep understanding of building and industrial automation, with my experience, I have volunteered as a facilitator training over 200 engineers in major companies in Nigeria. I have also coordinated many smart projects among are among projects: The Actuated Traffic signal at Lagos, Nigeria (links), smart building management system integration MTN head office Lagos (ongoing)
With a deep understanding of the Nigeria power system sector and as a volunteer of the Energy institute young professional network the opportunity for this scholarship will be a game-changer for me to gain the opportunity to Specialised Knowledge, access technical expertise, horn my research skills, and grow my leader leadership skill.
Studying at the University of Edinburgh on the wings of Mastercard funding scheme) would not only support me in advancing my knowledge and skills but have a direct impact in my country Nigeria after post studies. Behind my achievement is a strong desire to learn to pull through, it is through this that I hope to become an instrument of change using my energy and acquired skills to promoting socially responsible actions and to contributing to sustainable development by participating in the solving of Africa’s energy challenges.
