ConAgra’s Recipe
The success of an organization is dependent on the human resource system applied in that particular firm. The system determines a business’s success by evaluating employees’ performance, selecting the right workers, and effectively managing business activities. ConAgra is one of North America’s largest food companies that provide quick, tasty, and convenient meals to its customers. This company’s human resource system ensures it has the right employees and the right technology to corporate success and eliminates unfavorable competition. In my paper, I will discuss problems of the old human resource management system and its impact on how ConAgra developed a new system and its benefits.
13-14
Production of fragmented information was one of the challenges found in ConAgra’s old systems, where they could not support nationwide data collection about employees. They had many designs for different stations rather than a central human resource (HR) system, making it impossible to have data at one particular point. The information had to be collected and analyzed from different areas and sent to one central system for evaluation. The issue was not integrating the system, thus resulting in time wastage while making it hard for HR managers to analyze each employee’s data. The company did not have a central system to facilitate all human resource processes, and the company had to extract data from various stations to give analyzed report.
The employees could not access their information and performance in the firm due to the company’s low technology applications. The managers and workers could not access the required information at the right time and required much time to access the information they need (Florkowski,2018). It failed to facilitate the efficient collection of employee data and views, making it hard for workers to interact with the managers, resulting in poor decision making.
13-15
The company decided to do away with the old systems and incorporate a new approach to run all human resource processes. Introducing a new scheme in the firm helped the company gain access to new markets, manage its workers effectively, assist in recruitment, evaluate talents, and aid in proper decision-making. The company decided to implement an integrated talent management system and could operate on a cloud-based platform. The company invited ideas to build the talent management system known as ‘My Recipe.’ My recipe was required to store and share all information in one central system. It was expected to be user-friendly and have efficient tools that could facilitate all processes.
13-16
The company was able to evaluate various systems, and the company decided to select SuccessFactors as the best system that was expected to run the company’s operations. SuccessFactors is a cloud-based software for running human capital management applications that house many tools such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), recruitment software, performance management, applicant tracking software, succession planning, and talent management, which were meant for improving performance and growth of workers.
13-17
The team selected implementation dates that were to rhyme with some of the company’s activities; succession and development software was timed when the firm had its annual review of talents. The process of rolling out the system in stages ensured that the project was alive, and staff understood all modules. The system was then implemented, where it enhanced standardized HR processes in the firm.
13-18
One of the benefits of this system was facilitating information storage and sharing relevant information to employees and managers (White,2018). The new system was able to link employee’s payroll with the system’s home screen to help the employee view his or her payments.
The integrated system ensured that the company has one cloud-based system that operated as the DNA of the firm resulting in minimized data redundancies and inefficiency (Trejo Pech,2018). The managers did not have to extract data from multiple systems and analyze them later. The new system helped improve the company’s performance as the information was readily available to relevant people at the right time.
Technology brings change and makes work more comfortable in every business, ready to be competitive and successful (Florkowski,2018). The new HR management system’s application was the cure to the challenges faced by ConAgra company; thus, it is clear that the quality of outputs in business depends on the inputs and the type of operational activities applied.
