Prevention of obesity
My initiative is to prevent obesity in the aged. Most patients visiting the healthy facility I work in and 50 years and above happen to have obesity. Obesity is a complex disease involving an excessive amount of body fat. The solution to preventing the disease is practicing healthy eating habits and doing physical exercises (In Goran, 2017). Most individuals overeat while moving too little. The first time I began noticing fatty people affected by obesity, I thought they were rich and eat well. I did not know that it was a disease that needs treatment. Since I envisioned the problem was when I joined my medical cause, and it has dramatically changed. I have learned types of diseases, causes, and interventions, and obesity is one of the disorders I know its cause and intervention. The knowledge I have gained is what led me to my current perspective and direction. Therefore, I propose that the patients who visit the hospital for obesity treatment or any other diseases and have obesity should be educated on the causes and how to prevent it. They should be advised to avoid unhealthy, poor eating behavior, engage in little physical exercises like walking, and jogging, among other exercises like attending the gym or practicing yoga (In Youdim, 2015). The hospital can print handouts for the educated to read and teach others face-to-face. The intervention/treatment programs can be given to patients, and a follow up to be done after 2-3 months. This will help improve the aged’s lives since obesity may be the leading cause of other diseases like diabetes, heart diseases, high blood pressure, and different types of cancer, hazardous and life-threatening diseases.
