Oriana Fallaci communicates in a passionate tone in the two books, The Rage, and the Pride and The Force of the Reason. The books have placed Fallaci in a position where many people appreciate her courage, while others condemn her for their term as a violent expression. In the two books, Fallaci has ignited a passionate conversation amongst intellectuals, ordinary citizens, and politicians in America and Europe. Fallaci writes these books in response to the 9/11 attack, where thousands of people died and others injured. The Rage and the Pride was a break of silence that Fallaci had registered since the 9/11 attack. The author expresses her opinions in this book unchained by the terrorism orchestrated by the Islamic religion. Fallaci openly discusses the incompatibility of the Western and the Islamic World. Fallaci passionately tears down the harm that the Islamic religion has brought to the Western countries.
What makes her outstanding is that she speaks what many people fear to speak in Europe and America. Fallaci wrote The Force of Reason as a response to the many attacks and death threats that she received after publishing her earlier book, The Rage and the Pride. In this book, Fallaci identifies herself with Master Cecca, who has burned during the inquisition seven decades ago. According to Fallaci, Europe was becoming an Islamic colony (Fallaci, 2004). She even terms Italy as the headquarters of this Islamic colony. This author addresses the topics that many people have avoided more passionately and logically, depicting a picture that she knew what she was writing about and was ready for any consequence.
Fallaci, in the context of these two books, believed that the Western World was in the process of being overruled and colonized by radical Islam. She believed that Muslims were colonizing large Europe through high fertility and immigration (Fallaci, O. (2001). In this context, she blamed Europe’s passivity, claiming that this passivity had placed the entire region in danger of being colonized. There are no doubts that these books touched on some critical points about the relationship between the Western and the Islam world. It should be noted that the books were a response to the 9/11 attack, which was believed to have been carried out by the Islamic world.
Though Fallaci passionately writes these two books, it appears that his reaction to 9/11 attack was exaggerated, and she relied more on prejudices. After the attack, there is no substantial evidence that can be relied on to claim that it was a case of Islam versus the Western world. The attack was only associated with Al Qaeda, which was then led by Osama Bin Laden. Though this terror group is heavily related to Islam, there is no justification that the Islamic people were behind the attack. Besides, no clear motive behind the attack has ever come out because the attackers died on the hijacked planes and could not give any information about their motives. In this case, Fallaci seemed to rely more on prejudices that the Islamic people were forming the Al Qaeda terror group that is believed to have organized the attack. Therefore, though Fallaci passionately spoke her heart, her reaction to the 9/11 attack was based on pure prejudices rather than facts.
