The article is based on the critical evaluation of two competing paradigms for globalization, namely, Pomeranz’ The Great Divergence: China, Europe, and the making of the Modern World and Samuel Huntington’s The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order. The critical evaluation presented the converging and diverging thoughts along with the comprehensive review on the strengths and weakness. In the first phase of the article, Pomeranz stance shed light on the European strategy to surge their economic empowerment and refer is as an evolution of historical capitalism. He explicitly acknowledged European approach to combine their resources, rather than focusing on the single aspect. He pointed out that China and Europe have numerous similarities in terms of international trade, however Europe stand out in the world economy by its strategy to reserve natural resources. However, the numerous researchers’ express their concerns on the Pomeranz perceptions as they cited that it is utterly grounded in the hierarchy of the capitalist economy and the fragmented data. Also, his thoughts seemed to be more inclined toward the European supremacy instead of the true essence of globalization. Another paradigm was Huntington’s stance about the changing dynamics of globalization through multiple means. His ideology of globalization is deep-rooted in his abstract thinking about the world order as he perceived this notion as the people’s cultural distinctions. He underscores the importance of global unity and refers to the current trends of globalization as the result of cultural conflicts, which become the reason of equality and equity issues among the developed and under-developed countries. In addition, his thought illustrates numerous aspects of a disjointed social coalition, including religion, particularly Islamic and anti-Islamic nations, Western military superiority, and restriction of non-Western immigrants. However, numerous critics counter his thoughts as he did not provide an overt explanation of the new world order through global unity. Furthermore, American critics strongly condemn his thoughts due to his opinion about America. The article gives a new dimension to future researches in terms of unfolding numerous concepts about the changing dynamics of globalization through European diplomacy, Western supremacy, and alignment of new world order.
