Introduction
Today, education has become among the most precise pointers of life outcomes like occupation, social status, and salary. Education is currently used as a strong predictor and well-being of educated individuals. Education has been for the longest time used by people in shaping their “social identity,” frame an understanding of themselves and relationships with other people (Janks, 2014). A lively and affirming social identity is associated with various positive life outcomes like political engagement, social trust, and increased well-being. However, current stress on education makes it difficult for individuals with lower education levels to have an upbeat social personality. It is clear that this negatively affects the self-esteem and well-being of an individual. This essay focuses on why society has become more or less educated and its effect on the future of an individual.
Why People have become more educated and the Impacts on their future
Today’s society has acknowledged the importance of education by allowing their children to attend schools. The community believes that education is a crucial part of any society’s growth and progress. When people and society, in general, are educated, they tremendously contribute to the development of their families and societies in different dimensions, thus creating a stimulating and stable community (Janks, 2014). Society has become more educated because of the following reasons: Creating more employment opportunities: In today’s society, finding a job is very hard, especially in times of economic turmoil. Therefore, an individual is forced to compete with other candidates when applying for a job position. This factor favors individuals with higher education. Improving the economy: Individuals with good educational background have higher chances of getting well-paying jobs. These people tend to reduce society’s poverty rates since they can use their better lives to improve others’ lives.
Creating Modern Society: Education is based on the vital essence of any modern society. Therefore, an individual needs to learn about the culture and other significant aspects to fully contribute to contemporary society’s growth (Janks, 2014). With education, people can differentiate between right and wrong, thus leading society in the right direction. Giving back to the Community: Education gives back to society in various ways. Educated individuals understand the significance of living in a stable and safe community. Therefore, they tend to indulge themselves in projects that contribute to the improvement of their neighborhood. Developing Problem Solving Skills: Among the many benefits of education is that it equips individuals with critical and logical thinking regarding decision-making. Securing a Higher Income: Individuals with higher levels of education tend to get high paying jobs. This is only acquired through studying hard, dedicating one’s efforts and time to developing knowledge to reach higher levels of competencies (Janks, 2014). These efforts pay off when individuals land themselves lucrative jobs with higher salaries, thus living a comfortable life in the future.
Lack of education has severe impacts on everyone, especially in the future. Uneducated individuals have many troubles while trying to get ahead of life; they tend to be poorer than educated individuals. People tend to lack education due to various reasons ranging from personal to family’s status (Cottarelli, Gerson & Callegari, 2011). An individual can decide on themselves not to go to schools anymore since they view education as torture. In terms of family status, an individual may come from a low-income family who has difficulty paying their school fees. There are various impacts of lack of education ranging from poor health, short lifespan, unemployment, and exploitation. In terms of health, primary education is essential since it teaches individuals the significance of maintaining their hygiene. According to the Fiscal Monitor Report, it is evident that less-educated individuals do not live as long as educated people do. The report shows that those less educated individuals live 4 to 14 years less than the educated lads due to stress and poor health in general.
Conclusion
Education is the key to the success of any individual or society in general. To succeed in future, an individual must be well educated. Education comes with many positive opportunities like securing higher-paying jobs and having a social status that most people envy in society. With education, people tend to live comfortable lives since they can afford the luxuries necessary in life. The less educated individuals tend to have hard times getting ahead of life in terms of everything, be it in terms of health or finances. When it comes to employment, jobs are given to qualified individuals since education credentials are a significant way most employers choose job applicants. Also, people who are not educated tend to try all sorts of terrible jobs to survive. Therefore, girls tend to be exploited by their employers to secure those jobs.
