When poets mention the name epic, what comes to mind is the heroes and some supranational powers involved. In most epic poems, the hero has some tendency to fight some odds and norms to survive. Most of the epic poems are always very long, and it needs patience to understand them. In most cases, the poet associates typically the protagonist with the gods, and the beliefs that enable them to do the extraordinary things that put them on the spot are heroes.

In the poems Gilgamesh, the Odyssey, and the Aeneid, the epic’s contention is demonstrated several ways. In all the lyrics, there is the element of culture that has been portrayed out very well. For Gilgamesh and Anneid, the poet tries to bring out heroism’s essence and the part they play in society. In all the three epic poems, all poets bring out how the gods are viewed and respected by the people and the vital part. All the three poets assert that the gods are supreme and have control over everything and cannot be replaced by any other like in the case of Achilles, the Greek warrior

In most epic poems, the heroic figures suffer, which is worthwhile because, in the end, they can be seen coming out victorious, and it’s centered on a heroic figure whose fate is dependent on some powers that other people have tried and failed, but they come out victorious. Like in Anneid, the poet explains how the Roman Empire came into being and the myths surrounding it, while in the other two, the element of kingship and the rulers has also been demonstrated. It tells us how our ancestors’ old stories began, and they came into being through supernatural powers.

In conclusion, these three poems have highlighted the elements of tradition in the epic of return, like in the case of Odyssey, where the bribe appeared at the last minute to save the bride. At the same time, Anneid portrays the return through the rebirth like in the end in the New Troy, who became the beginning and transformation. The styles that are used in the epic poem are mostly allusion, and the performances are ceremonial.
