Is spanking an effective way of punishing a child? There are varying opinions on this matter. While on the one hand, a faction of parents thinks that spanking is an efficient way of punishing their children, the other section holds a different opinion. Spanking children can be harmful because it can cause psychological trauma, it can leave lasting physical scars, and so, it can be argued out that there are better ways of teaching discipline. Nonetheless, it is vital to appreciate that while spanking could have some lasting consequences on a child, the other punishment methods could even present more painful experiences. Take, for example, whipping. Just as spanking, switching is another way of teaching discipline, and it can indeed cause more physical damage than spanking.
