Nuclear medicine involves the incorporation of radioactive substances in the process of research, diagnosis, and the curing. Without question this branch of medicine for sure need to apply technology in its processes being in a world where there is an increase in advancements in technology making even the most complex tasks really simple. When nuclear medicine puts more technological processes in their operations then there are significant changes that will be experienced.
Nuclear medicine for sure needs computers, cameras, cellphones, printers, etc. The special cameras could be used in nuclear medicine is for recognizing radioactive energy that the patient releases from their body and transforms it into an image. These images can be shared with the patients through computers or even be printed into hardcopy. This brings the use of printers as another form of technology. Computers on the other hand has very many purposes for example, they are used to store all the nuclear medicine information for even decades to come. Data stored in computers help to even organize them and make it easier to be accessed and managed.
Computers may also be used for communication between colleagues in the profession or even between doctors and patients through emails, memo etc. Computers may also be used for viewing and editing information not forgetting that it can also be used to research and help in expanding ones knowledge. The telephone is also another technology means that is really important and its significance is evident. Telephones are a faster means of communication and can be used to pass information between the parties involved within the shortest time available. They are faster than emails and memos that were used in the earlier days.
Data Storage in Nuclear Medicine
1. What form of patient Data Backup can be utilized?
Data backup is an essential aspect in nuclear medicine as it will ensure date is stored for future purposes. Data backup can be made possible through physical means by the health officers that is onsite backup. It can also be done by offsite backup which is more of digital. Cloud based backup and remote are also forms of patient data backup.
2. Can images be saved as digital files?
It is true that images can be saved as digital files and this is because after the radioactive energy transforms into an image, it is scanned electronically and stored in the computer system and they are saved into the database digitally. When this is done then future references will be easier due to the clear record stored.

Explain what is HIPPA?
It is a public law that regulates the privacy of health information, security of health information, notification of breaches of confidentiality, and penalties for violating HIPPA are looked into. It is run by the Department of Health and Human Services and enforced by the Office for Civil Rights.
Will HIPPA apply to you at your clinical rotation in a hospital?
Yes HIPPA will apply to me at my clinical rotation in hospital because it will be helpful in setting for me the standards that I need during the provision of my services at the clinic. I will be able to adhere to the rules in HIPPA will be a guiding stone into forming a good rapport with the patients.
