1955 Capital: The Chief Investor of Nature’s Fynd
The prestigious capital firm, 1955 Capital, recently announced its exercise to provide significant investment to a food company, Nature’s Fynd. The tech company, which recently received rebranding to Sustainable Bioproducts, was led to the foundation by Andrew Chung in 2012. The company’s ultimate mission, which currently offers employment to over 50 individuals, was to provide substantial plant’s nutritional products to its environment without utilizing the products from animals.
1955 Capital led the investment of Nature’s Fynd in the $33 million Series A funding round. The founder, who is also the managing partner, has been a board member in the food tech company since 2018. His outstanding efforts expanded the company’s portfolio investment and contributed to the growth and success of the 1955 Capital.
During the series B investment round, Andrew Chung brought up the performance and production methods implemented by Nature’s Fynd. He mentioned its dynamic production behavior of employing cost-effective techniques that contribute to secure the competitive prices in the emerging market economies, which have high needs for technologies. The competent founder also pointed out the significance of establishing a healthy and trustworthy food supply, which has less harsh impacts on the global economy, unlike the livestock food supply, which has recently affected the economy with pandemics such as coronavirus and swine flu.
1955 Capital, based in San Francisco, California, also meets the challenges faced by the developing economies in multiple sectors, including manufacturing, energy, healthcare, and education. In the series B investment round, Nature’s Fynd investors and founders jacked up around $80 million funding. The headline contribution came from significant sources, including 1955 Capital, Generation Investment Management LLP, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, which raised an executive contribution of $1 billion in collaboration with some prominent investors in the world, including Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Jack Ma.
The outstanding funding was to help the company in venturing into new lines of commodities alongside establishing Nature’s Fynd to a bigger facility, 35,000 square foot manufacturing center, in Chicago. The food tech company had plans of innovating meat-free food products, made from a particular microbe fetched out from geothermal waters in Yellowstone National Park.
